As you know by now, Prof Soyinka always shy away from publicity. On one occasion, some years back, while the world was celebrating him, he disappeared to celebrate his birthday with the elementary school kids somewhere away from the public view. Such is the grace of the man and we want to celebrate him all the more for that. You are in order. Thanks for calling our attention to this important occasion. First of all welcome to the Nigerian friends of chess website. this website is for all Nigerian and Nigerian related chess players and i hope you will have a nice time while visiting it Friends of chess is a group of Nigerian Chess Enthusiast who are not about to give up the chess spirit and chess playing attitude even though the people directly responsible for chess administration in Nigeria are about to kill the sport. Amon simutowe has become the first man from sub-saharn Africa to achive GM status. The zambezi shark achived this noble feat at the Euwe Stimulans.
